Dr NP Singh, Professor of Medicine, Maulana Azad Medical College MAMC, says:
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a lifestyle disorder and remains asymptomatic in early stages. But it is one of the major causes for heart attack, kidney failure and stroke. You must consult your doctor and start taking your medicines and get your blood pressure checked regularly.
I am 45 years old and suffer from severe pain in my upper abdomen and lower chest, especially after heavy meals. What should I do? Is there any medicine that can help? 8212; Kanika Sinha
Dr Singh says: You are suffering from symptoms of reflux oesophagitis, which causes heartburn and pain in the upper abdomen, especially after heavy meals. You are advised to avoid meals containing heavy fat and do not lie down immediately after meals. Also, drugs like PPIs can help you overcome your symptoms.
