I am 29 years old and of late, I have witnessed a change in my menstruation cycle. The flow is not only less, but has decreased from five days to three days. I am married but do not have kids. Will it create problems for me when I try to conceive?

Ruchika Ketrapal, sr consultant, gynaecology, Max Healthcare, says:

Whenever there is a change in the menstruation pattern, it has to be investigated. You need to get a hormone profile and an ultrasound of pelvis done to detect any abnormality that might be affecting the flow. It could be polycystic ovarian disease, hyperolactenimia or other hormonal disturbances, which may cause difficulty in conceiving later on. A visit to the gynaecologist is in order. In any case, a low sugar, carbohydrate diet and weight loss is recommended.
