NEW DELHI, MAY 3: As part of the party’s efforts to gear up for mid-term polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Kushabhau Thakre today reviewed the preparations by State units ranging from campaign dates, mobilisation of party cadres and preparation of election material.

Among the various aspects of the election campaign, the emphasis would be on highlighting the Opposition’s role in pulling down the Vajpayee Government without having an alternative which forced the country to go to the polls, party spokesman Venkaiah Naidu told reporters after the review meeting.

The meeting discussed measures to capitalise on the "groundswell of support" that the party had secured since the fall of the BJP-led coalition and how to secure maximum electoral gains from it.

The party’s election management committee chaired by Home Minister L K Advani will meet tomorrow to discuss further details on how to step up the tempo when the mood is in favour of the party, Naidu said.
