Thadani bags Murthy Trophy

Thadani started with a 17-3 win in the first match against Ram G, but in the second match it went down by 13-17 against Bask. With the last match remaining to be played Thadani’s score had already swelled to 30 VPAt that stage Bafana from Pune was leading the field having 34 VP. Bafana won its first two matches against Bask (18-12) and Ram G (16-4).

In the last session, Thadani defeated Bafana by 20-10 to annex the crown with a tally of 50 VP. Bafana, which was leading with 34 VP, ended its engagements having 44 VP and the team was relegated to the 3rd place.

Bask, lagging behind with 29 VP, got 16 VP from Ram G in the last match and had to be content with second spot with 45 VP, surpassing Bafana’s score of 44 VP. Bask was represented by Bharati Dey, Anil Padhye, Sunil Machhar and Kalpana Misra.

Ram G lost all the three matches against Thadani (3-17), Bafna (14-16) and Bask (14-16). The team finished fourth with a tally of 41 VP.

PDABA SQUAD: THE Pune District Amateur Boxing Association (PDABA) today announced a 11-member Pune district squad for the forthcoming West Zone Invitational boxing championships to be held under the aegis of the Maharashtra State Boxing Association (MSBA) later this month.
