MUMBAI, NOV 6: Shiv Sena chief, Bal Thackeray on Saturday expelled nine office-bearers, including five district chiefs, for anti-party activities8217; during the simultaneous general and Assembly elections in the State.

Those expelled are Prabhakar Kale Warud, Mohan Chokhande and Bhikusheth Shingne Sindkhedraja, Munna Darode Nagpur, Balaji Patil, Kamlakar Chavan, Sudhir Chavan Tuljapur, H Holkar Badnapur and Kundalik Gaikwad Beed, a party statement said here Saturday.

The district chiefs sacked are Harish Mane Gdchiroli, Baldeo Chopde Buldhana, Narsing Jadhav Dharashiv, Chanrakant Pawar Satara and Uday Khandke Ratnagiri. Those removed from party posts are Nandu Ambokar and Dhanraj Phuse both shakha pramukhs.

Addressing the party8217;s annual Dassera rally on October 19, Thackeray had declared that he had taken a serious view of activities indulged in by a section of senior leaders and that he would expel them. Thackeray had even announced that he had expelledindustrialist-turned-politician Mukesh Patel and would soon be taking stern action against a prominent leader of the party for hobnobbing with Congress leaders.

However, no expulsion notice has been served on Patel, who is also a Rajya Sabha member.
