There was more bad news for India as the BCCI announced that Sachin Tendulkar would not be available for the third Test match, starting in Kanpur on April 11.
Tendulkar missed the second Test through a groin injury and the board said in a release that the batsman would continue with his rehabilitation programme. “The decision has been taken to give Sachin the opportunity to make a full recovery.” Sachin’s rehabilitation programme will be monitored by NCA physio Paul Close.
Meanwhile, Delhi bowler Ishant Sharma will undergo a fitness session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore on Sunday ahead of the selection committee meeting. Sharma had been advised three weeks rest because of pain in the big toe on his left foot and sources say that he may not be fit for Kanpur.
Murali Kartik, who injured his ankle in a Deodhar Trophy match is back to bowling in the nets.
The selectors did not want to speak on the issue before the fitness reports came in.
