Sachin Tendulkar today became only the fourth cricketer in the world to score 9,000 Test runs when he reached 36 in the fourth and final Test between India and Australia here. Tendulkar achieved the milestone when he took a single off Jason Gillespie during India8217;s first innings on the opening day of the match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

A veteran of 111 Tests, Tendulkar could have achieved this mark much earlier but for a form slump which saw him score just 82 runs from three Tests on this tour.

The 30-year-old is now fourth on the all-time Test scorers8217; list behind former Australian skipper Allan Border 11,174, current Aussie captain Steve Waugh 10,807 and countrymate Sunil Gavaskar 10,122.
