
MUMBAI, July 10: Technical faults in overhead equipment disrupted Western Railway8217;s suburban services today morning for more than two hours. The snags occurred on both the up and down fast tracks between Grant Road and Charni Road stations at 9.30 am.
Though finally set right two hours later, the services continued to run late by an average of more than 45 minutes. 8220;It took me two hours to reach Churchgate from Goregaon,8221; said Hema Raghunathan, an executive working at Churchgate. Many commuters also got down at Charni road and cabbed their way to their offices.
Western Railway officials, however, claimed the trains were delayed by only 20 minutes and that services were normalised by 11.30 am. In a separate incident, several trains on the Konkan Railway continued to be re-routed after a landslide at Adavali brought services to a stop last night.
Long-distance trains like the Netravati Express and Rajdhani Express were diverted through South Central railway while the up and down Madgaon Express trainswere cancelled. Konkan Railway officials claimed work was under progress at the spot for restoration of services.
