HISAR, MARCH 22: A special investigation team to be headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and under the supervision of Superintendent of Police O. P. Singh, has been constituted to probe all aspects of the gruesome murders of six members of a family in village Matrasham on March 18.
Besides, DSP Hazari Singh, the team will have inspectors from CIA and Sadar police station, besides a couple of other officials, who will apprise the SP about the day-to-day progress made in the investigations.
Confirming the constitution of the special team, the SP, who took over charge here, a couple of days ago, told ENS that the police have been working on the right track and that many new clues have been1 found.
"What I can ensure at this moment is that the police spares no effort to solve the case." He, however, categorically stated that no innocent people would be harassed. "The police have found some more important clues that will help investigations," the SP said and added that "the motorcycle used in the crime has also been found from a lodge near the bus stand here."
"Besides, we have the statement of the injured Chander," which he said was an important evidence before us." Singh said that all senior police officials visited the village today again and met a large number of people, and added that many new things came to the notice of the police.
Meanwhile, the police, today, produced sarpanch Ishwar Singh before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate S. K. Goel, who has remanded him to police custody till March 25.
On the other hand, former chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal chief O. P. Chautala, has demanded a CBI probe into the murders. Addressing mediapersons here today, Chautala said "that involvement of ruling HVP workers could not be ruled out." If Ishwar Singh was proved to be the culprit in the case, there "was every possibility of close involvement of the chief minister’s son, Surender Singh, whom the sarpanch met in Delhi, allegedly after committing the crime," Chautala added.
Flaying police "inaction" in the case, INLD chief said that it seemed that after receiving directions from the chief minister’s son, the police tried to give a new twist to the case and arrested innocent persons.
An inquiry only through a Central agency or by a sitting judge of the high court could give justice and not by the state civil or police officials, who Chautala alleged worked under the influence of the chief minister’s son.
Flaying Bansi Lal, he said that the state, in fact, was being run by Surender Singh. He urged the Centre to sack the ruling combine in the state, as there was "Jungle Raj" in the state.
Later, Chautala along with scores of party activists, including district party chief Puran Singh Dabra, visited the bereaved family in the village.
