Having smashed a scintillating 172 in the warm up match against the Lankan XI, India vice-captain Yuvraj Singh oozed confidence of doing well in the upcoming ODI series but feels India will have to put up an ‘outstanding’ effort to handle the twin-threat of Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis.
The Punjab left-hander anchored the 92-run win and said he was happy to make a brilliant start to the tour.
“I came to Sri Lanka with a lot of expectations. I would like to better my previous performance. I am happy with the way I have started in the rights spirit. I am feeling very confident after the warm up match today,” said the southpaw, who smashed 13 sixes and eight boundaries in his 121-ball knock.
The Indian vice captain believes the Sri Lankan bowling has become more dangerous with the coming of Ajantha Mendis and his team has to play really well against the formidable spin attack.
“The two have been bowling very well. I have seen them in the Test series they have been outstanding. Earlier Murali was only one guy but now they also have Mendis. So we have to play outstanding cricket to deal with the situation,” he said.
