
CHANDIGARH, July 28: Government Teachers8217; Union has intensified its campaign for holding the general election. In the first phase of the campaign today, a team consisting of 11 members visited more than 30 schools including GHS-37, 26, Mani Majra Town, Hallo Majra, Sectors 31, 47, 46, 45 and Sector 20 to enrol all UT teachers as members of Government Teachers Union.
Harbir Singh Anand, convener of the union, has in a release stated that the team assured teachers full co-operation in solving their problems after the general election. A general body meeting of Government Teachers Union UT will be held on August 1, Sector 20 to finalise the election schedule.
The team under the chairmanship of Surinder Kumar has pointed out that Amar Singh Hayatpur, who issued a statement in the media as the secretary general of North India Federation does not represent Chandigarh school lecturers in any capacity. The lecturers working in UT government schools have not planned any such agitation against the government, it was added.
