Mumbai, June 7: Swapnil Shah (Maharashtra) emerged sole leader with five out of five points in the National B Chess Tournament for the Blind, sponsored by Global Telesystems and All-India Chess Federation for the Blind, at the Andheri Sports Complex, on Wednesday.

After the fifth-round, it seems that Maharashtra are going to give a tough time for the other states with six of their players leading in the top ten boards in this selection tournament.

Swapnil Shah trapped his opponent Ramesh Kumar Narwal (Haryana) in the opening itself and won easily.

Shah is closely followed by Gaurav Gadodia (Mah), Suryakant Raut (Mah) lying in the second spot with 4.5 points each.

Chiradan Mesaria (Guj), Sanjay Karendikar (Mah), Rakesh Kumar Narwal (Har), Rajesh Ojhe (Mah), N Siddaiya (AP), Pandya Rajan (TN), Vasant Patil (Mah), P Balram (Ker), Rajesh Rajput (Guj) and Vijay Gauli (Mah) are in third position with four points each.
