RAJKOT, July 26: A swami and an administrative clerk of Chaya Swaminarayan Gurukul in Porbandar were arrested by the Porbandar police for allegedly seeking sexual gratification from a teacher of the Gurukul. However, head swamis in the Chaya Swaminarayan Gurukul, who did not want to be named, said the teacher was making false accusations because she had been suspended from school.

In her complaint with the Kamlabaugh police, Shobanaben Bachubhai claimed that Swami Bhanuprasad and clerk Dashrethsinh Jhalla had sexually exploited her over the years while she was a teacher at the school.

Kamlabaugh police inspector J K Ramalawat said the teacher had alleged that both of them had raped her several times and warned of dire consequences if she informed anybody. “Shobanaben has stated that the duo sought sexual gratification from her and often raped her in school,” police said.

Shobanaben had been working as a teacher with the Chaya Swaminarayan Gurukul since 1994. She was suspended by the school about two months ago without giving any reasons. Police sources said she had been initially recruited as an aayah but was later absorbed as teaching staff.

Both Swami Bhanuprasad and the clerk were arrested by the Kamalabaugh police after Shobanaben filed a complaint.
