
YANGON, SEPT 2: A 10-day stand-off between Myanmar Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and the country8217;s military government has ended and she returned home to Yangon on Saturday morning, the government said. Suu Kyi and her party arrived home safe and sound after their stay in Dallah town, a statement released by the military authorities said.
No independent confirmation was immediately available. The statement said Suu Kyi8217;s party was 8220;escorted8221; to the Myanmar capital, without stating whether the return was voluntary.
Meanwhile, military authorities on Saturday raided and occupied the headquarters of Suu Kyi8217;s National League for Democracy, seizing documents, an official source said.
