MUMBAI, JUNE 3: A fast-paced game by a younger Sutarwar side helped them hand a 3-0 loss to Parsees in a league tie of the Air-India Trophy organised by MDFA at the St Xavier8217;s Ground, Parel today.
After a relatively quiet start the Sahar team went into the lead in the 25th minute when Brendon Boothello took advantage of a defensive lapse by a Parsee defender to slam the goal on the far corner of the net.
Even as Parsees were reeling under the first error, Boothello struck again in the 35th minute scoring off a neat pass by Melory Fernandes as Sutarwar went into half-time with a cushioning 2-0 lead.
The second-half saw Parsees coming back strongly but at the end of the day had nothing much to do but rue their missed chances. To rub salt to the Parsees8217; wounds, Sutarwar added another goal to their tally when a 30-yarder by Lynn Boothello curled into the nets to leave the 8216;keeper rooted to his spot.
In the dying minutes, Parsees8217; Zarir Shroff came close to salvaging the Parsees some lost pride but hisshot from the top of the box missed the mark.Tomorrow8217;s matches: 3.00 p.m. Worli Sports Club vs Sahar Silver Stars Div III A; 4.30 p.m. BEST vs Larsen amp; Toubro Air-India Trophy
