
2 succumb to burns
Two women who were admitted to the New Civil Hospital after suffering severe burns while cooking died in the New Civil Hospital on Tuesday, the police said. Thirty-year-old Pushpaben Mahajan, who received severe burn injuries on Tuesday morning while cooking at her house located at Gitanagar area of Pandesara died within an hour of being admitted to the hospital.
In another burns death case, Chhayaben Patil 24, a resident of Arvibhav Society at Pandesara area also died in the New Civil Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, where she was admitted there three days ago when a primus stove on which she was cooking exploded. The Pandesara police have registered cases.
Diamond thefts
Rough and polished diamonds worth Rs 3.35 lakh were stolen in two separate cases of burglaries registered at the Kapodara and Mahidarpura police stations on Tuesday. Harivardhan Kanmsara, owner of a diamond workshop located at Somnath Mahadev Sheri, Haripura complained to the Mahidharpura police that unidentified people entered his workshop by removing the screws of the window and decamped with diamonds of Rs 2.26 lakh.
In another case of diamond theft, 150 carats of diamonds worth Rs 1.10 lakhs were stolen from the workshop of one Babu Patel, located at Diamond Nagar in Kapodara. Patel told the police that the miscrents entered the workshop on Monday night by breaking open the lock.
Armed loot
Three unidentified people intercepted a man carrying Rs 67,000 in cash along with important bank documents in the basement of a building on Monday night and looted him, a case registered in the Varachha police station said.
One Prakashbhai Chandrana, a resident of Shriram Apartments at Ghanshyamnagar told the Varachha police that three people surrounded him near the staircase of his apartment and while one of the three threatened him with a knife, the other two snatched away the bag and fled.
