PASA arrest
Premsingh alias Pallu Jaisingh Rajput, a notorious criminal of the city involved in a number of crimes including vehicle thefts, armed loot and rioting, was taken into custody by the Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) police on Wednesday and send to the Sabarmati Central jail. The Limbayat police had recommended arresting the criminal under the Prevention of Anti Social Activities (PASA) act to the police chief.
A resident of Mahaprabhunagar, Premsingh has been involved in various cases being investigated by the Limbayat police and the DCB for three years now. Police Commissioner Maniram ordered his arrest.
Case registered
The Udhna police have registered a case under CrPC 174, after 25-year old Shardaben Himmatbhai — a resident of Lalima Society at Udhna — was found dead under mysterious circumstances from her house on Wednesday morning.
Although the body did not bear any injury marks, the police have sent the body for a post mortem at the New Civil hospital. According to the police, initial investigations indicated that the woman might have committed suicide because of some personal problem.
Two dead
Two unidentified persons, who were admitted in the Maskati and New Civil hospital in a semi-conscious state died on Wednesday, the police said. While the body of an unidentified 40-year old man was found in a semi conscious state on Sunday from a footpath, the body of an unidentified 50-year-old was found lying at Limbayat crossroads a couple of days ago. Both died during treatment, the police said, adding attempts were being made to identify them.
Vehicle thefts
Two vehicles, a Hero Honda (GJ 5 AB 3119), belonging to one Jayantibhai Patel and an autorickshaw (GJ 5 Y 7310), were reported stolen in two separate cases of vehicle thefts registered in the Varachha and Mahidharpura police stations respectively on Wednesday. Cases under section 379 of the IPC have been registered, the police said, adding investigations are on.
