Re-polling at four booths in Kheda
Re-poll at four polling booths, two in Kheda Lok Sabha constituency and one each in Anand and Bhavnagar constituencies, was conducted peacefully on Tuesday. The re-poll had been ordered by the Election Commission following complaints of bogus voting at these booths during elections on Sunday.

State Joint Chief Electoral Officer J P Jadeja said during the re-poll at booth no. 107 A in Kheda as many as 328 out of the total 443 voters exercised their franchise, while at booth no. 132 in the same constituency, 560 of the total 992 voters cast their votes. Jadeja said 713 out of 984 voters turned up at booth no. 68 in Anand constituency, while the turnout at booth no. 177 in Bhavnagar was 471 of the total 776 voters.

DHO warnings
DR V D Shah, who has been appointed as chief district health officer, issued a warning to all hospitals, dispensaries, clinics and laboratories not to carry out illegal abortion or sex-determination tests. Shah, in a statement issued here, said that persons found violating the 1986 Act in this regard will be liable to five years of imprisonment along with a Rs 50,000 fine.

Felicitation
The Shikshak Din Ujawani Samiti which is headed by the district collector will felicitate award-winning teachers and other academicians at a function to be held on Wednesday. The function is to be held at Krushi Mangal Hall at 9.30. While collector Sangeeta Singh will preside over the function, Varachha bank chairman P B Dokecha has been invited as Chief Guest. The function had to be postponed as Teachers8217; day on September 5 coincided with the parliamentary elections.

Guidance camps
A series of guidance camps for physically handicapped persons have been organised in various parts of the district by the district Social Defence Committee in September. An official release issued here said that the guidance camps will be held at Mosali in Mangrol on September 9, in Songadh on September 17 and at Mandi on September 21. Training for self-employment schemes like STD-PCO booths will be given at these camps. Handicapped applicants will also be provided loan facilities to open STD/PCO booths.

Blood collected
Surat Raktadan Kendra, a city-based blood bank, in association with a number of voluntary organisations, has collected 406 units of blood to be used for charity in separate camps held in the city over the past 10 days. The blood will be used for charity.

SSS meeting
A meeting of small saving scheme agents will be held on Friday at the collectorate8217;s meeting hall at 4 pm. All agents have been asked to remain present.

No superstitions
