
Bhatt to open hospital rooms
Health Minister Ashok Bhatt will inaugurate 20 new rooms at the New Civil Hospital at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Surat district8217;s guardian minister Narottam Patel will also attend the function along with hospital superintendent Dr K Saifee. Located above the OPD department, the plush rooms will be available for Rs 150, according to Dr Saifee.
Women8217;s meet
The ladies8217; wing of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organised a conference on 8220;opportunities for women entrepreneurs in next millennium 8221; in association with other women8217;s organisations from the city on Saturday. District collector Sangeeta Singh will inaugurate the conference at a function to be held at Samruddhi. Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai8217;s SNDT University Prof Mariama Verghese, Managing Director of Gandhinagar-based Mahila Arthik Vikas Nigam Meenaben Bhatt, and advocate Rani Jethmalani will be the speakers. Prof Verghese will speak on 8220;opportunities and challenges for women in the next century8221;; Bhatt will speak on the facilities provided for development of women entrepreneurs by the state and central governments, while Jethmalani will speak on contemporary topics.
SGCCI meet
The 58th annual general meeting of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be held at Gandhi Smruti on Sunday. The names of the new president and vice-president for the year 1999-2000 will be announced at the meeting.
SMA workshop
Surat Management Association recently organised a workshop on 8220;Recent Changes in the Factories Act8221;. Thirty five delegates from various organisations attended the workshop addressed by Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories V B Patel. He apprised the audience of recent changes, including those related to the chemical industry.
