No arrests still in murder case
The Detection of Crime Branch DCB, handling the Nita Satbhaya case have still not made any arrests in the case a full eight days after the murder. DCB PI M G Kaneriya stated on Sunday evening that although investigations were on, no arrests have been made. He added that a number of persons had been questioned but no definite progress had been made as far as the possible cause of the murder so far.

SSG operations
A total 300 leprosy patients from the state will be operated upon at the SSG hospital in Vadodara as part of the national leprosy eradication programme. A 13-day camp, beginning January 1, has been organised in which 70 patients from Surat will also be operated upon on January 2, 7 and 11. While a Mumbai-based CLCP project is providing financial assistance and kits to perform operations at the camp, the operations will continue round the clock for 13 days.

Firing practice
District Magistrate V D Asari has directed villagers not to go near Ukhai Sherula firing range where firing practice will start from December 30 to January 2. The villagers have been asked to keep a distance of 100 metre from the firing range during the practice.

Ganesh Kumar Gupta, chief executive of Vijay Silk House Ltd has been unanimously elected as chairman of the Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council. Gupta is also a member of the Committee of Administration of the Silk Export Promotion Council, Powerloom Development Export Promotion Council and Textile Committee. Sanjay Saran, director of Sonu Synthetic Ltd has been elected as the vice-chairman of the Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council.
