MUMBAI, FEB 17: VN Sule Guruji and Rizvi Springfield High School registered emphatic victories at Cross Maidan today to storm into the quarterfinals of the Kellogg8217;s Super Cup inter-school overs-limited cricket tournament conducted by the Mumbai Schools Sports Association.

While Sule Guruji routed St Joseph8217;s, Orlem by eight wickets, Springfield drubbed Bombay Scottish by 238 runs.

Opener Deepak Jaiswal8217;s 141 27215;4, 1215;6 and his 118-run first-wicket partnership with Pankaj Ojha 70: 12215;4 saw Springfield amass 376-7 in the allotted 45 overs. Apurva Srivastav 69 was the other principal contributor.

In reply, Bombay Scottish were shot out for 138 in 41 overs with left-arm spinner Sudanshu Mishra 5-17 doing most of the damage. Jaiswal, played his part while wicket-keeping too affecting four stumpings.

Chasing 189 runs for victory, Sule Guruji8217;s innings was steadied by the unbroken 139-run association between Vineet Indulkar 76: 10215;4 and Amit Patil 57: 9215;4 after they had lost two wickets for 26runs.

Off-spinner Karan Joshi, who claimed six wickets for 14 runs and an all-round display by Gaurang Patel 34 amp; 4-41 were the other notable performances of the day. The duo were largely instrumental in SV Patel8217;s 77-run win over Jasudben ML, which saw the winners cruise into last eight.
