VADODARA, Aug 10: A seminar on, `Moral Responsibilities of Youth,' was organised at the Faculty of Arts, M S University on Monday amidst hooting and a thin crowd, to cheer students, who had organised it.Speaking on the occasion, District Superintendent of Police (rural) Shamsher Singh said, ``University students have an important role to play and could aid the police in controlling untoward incidents in the varsity.''Singh observed that students, if worked collectively instead of individually, could be trendsetters in the community.Pointing out that for every action, the police were held responsible, he said students had an important role to play as far as being responsible was concerned.Speaking from his experience, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Mohan Jha stated that policemen were not different from students, because even they were students at some point of time. He observed that only if students were entrusted with responsibility, would they realise the role they had to play in the society.Misunderstanding between students and policemen was because of lack of communication between the two, he said, admitting that there were instances when the police had failed to handle students' problems properly.Addressing students, Head of the Department of Hindi, Faculty of Arts P K Desai pointed out that outsiders and not students were responsible for many problems rocking the university.Desai emphasised that such people needed to be removed from the campus and only those in the campus could help in doing so.
