CHANDIGARH: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will launch a nation-wide campaign from July 15 to 31 to highlight the “failures” of the United Front government at the Centre on various issues including the implementation of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP).
Politburo member, Sita Ram Yechuri, said here that the campaign will focus on various demands which include stotping the “dismantling” of the public sector through disinvestment, to take immediate steps to revive sick units, strengthen the public distribution system and to adopt women’s reservation and Lok Pal bills.
Impersonators arrested with drugs
JAMMU: Police has busted a gang of drug-traffickers who were masquerading as sadhus from the heart of Jammu city. Giving details, a police spokesman today said on specific information that drug-traffickers were active in the city, police conducted raids in the K C crossing and the bus stand areas and apprehended five “sadhus” along with 650 grams of charas. The drug-traffickers were supplying drugs in small packs to school and college going students.
TN govt transport buses damaged
NEYVELI: A Tamil Nadu government-owned transport corporation bus was burnt down completely by armed miscreants who hurled petrol bombs at the vehicle in this town in south Arcot-Vallalar district in the early hours today even as three other state-owned buses were damaged by another group of persons at Thittakudi during the same period in the district.
