IT was a clean sweep for Yash Raj Films at the Hero Honda 11th Annual STAR Screen Awards, held on January 18 at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The production house divided the booty between Veer-Zaara, Dhoom and Hum Tum, walking away with 10 awards.

Veer-Zaara won the awards for the Best Film, Story and Dialogues. Hum Tum earned Kunal Kohli the Best Director statuette. Shah Rukh Khan walked away with the Best Actor (Male) trophy for Veer-Zaara and Rani Mukerji was adjudged the Best Actor (Female) for Hum Tum.

‘‘For me, it’s become a Yash Raj Film Award as I tend to get one for every film that I do with them,’’ said Khan as he accepted the award.

Mukerji dedicated her award to Aditya Chopra, ‘‘for supporting me always.’’ It was a double whammy for Mukerji, who also bagged the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) Award for Yuva. Co-star Abhishek Bachchan earned one for Yuva also. Both dedicated their awards to each other.

Priyanka Chopra thanked the industry ‘‘for giving me a little space in your big heart,’’ as she received the award for Best Performance in a Negative role for Aitraaz. Riteish Deshmukh won the Best Performance in a Comic Role award for Masti.

Anu Malik’s rocking score for Main Hoon Na was voted Best Music of the Year. Sunidhi Chauhan (Sajna Ve Sajna) and Sonu Nigam (Main Hoon Na) were the best singers, while Kunal Ganjawala (Bheege Honth Tere) got a Special Jury Award.

Veteran actor Jeetendra was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He termed it as the ‘‘biggest achievement of my life.’’ Alka Yagnik was presented with a special award for completing 25 years of playback singing.
