MUMBAI, October 18: Over 2000 young players from a hundred schools from India will feature in the third Pepsi Youth Cricket Series to be played on the one-day format in six cities starting October 19.

The tournament to be played in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Calcutta will culminate with the inter-city tournament at Chennai in January 2001.

Former Test stars, Roger Binny, Shivlal Yadav, K Srikkanth, Madan Lal, Saba Karim along with Hyderabad and Mumbai Cricket Association are conducting the event.

According to Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, Secretary, Mumbai Cricket Association, “this year the reponse has been overwhelming and the number of participating school teams has gone up from 8 to 16.”

Following are the participating teams in Mumbai: Springfield Rizvi, St Mary’s ISC, IES New English, Bandra; Swami Vivekananda International, Borivali, Balmohan Vidyalaya, Anjuman Islam, Sau Laxmibai, IES Raja Shivaji, Shardashram, St Francis D’Assissi, Amrut Education, Yashodham, Bombay Scottish, St Xavier’s Boys Academy and IES VN Sule Guruji. The matches in Mumbai will be played at Islam Gymkhana, Parsi Gymkhana, Hindu Gymkhana and Police Gymkhana grounds. The final will be played on October 24.
