AMBALA, Jan 27: Haryana government employees have threatened to oppose the ruling HVP-BJP alliance candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in case no decision regarding their demands was taken by Chief Minister Bansi Lal by February 8. Addressing mediapersons here yesterday, Haryana Karamchari Mahasangh president S.D. Kapoor, general secretary Dhara Singh and chief organiser Amrik Singh alleged that Bansi Lal was discriminating against the employees and had gone back on his poll promises.

They said the move to privatise the Haryana State Electricity Board (HSEB) was aimed at harming the interests of employees.

The functioning of the HSEB would improve if employees were given charge of the administration for a year, they added.

Demanding a "white paper" on the expenditure on foreign consultation for preparing a case for privatisation of transmission and distribution of power, they termed the working of HSEB chairman Ranjit Issar dictatorial.

"During the one and a half years that he has been in charge, he has not called a single joint consultative meeting with employee leaders, which was to be held every six months," they alleged. The employee leaders said dharnas would be organised throughout the state on February 4 in this connection.
