Sonia to spend birthday with quake victims in Valley

Though Congress leaders wanted to wish her by presenting bouquets, they have been told that Sonia did not want to celebrate the birthday and will spend time with the quake victims.

‘‘This is her second visit to meet quake victims in the state. She wanted to come earlier but due to Parliament session she could not,’’ J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad told The Indian Express.

Sources said Sonia wanted to stay in Uri on December 9 night with quake hit people so that she could convey the message that she and her party were concerned about them.

Azad said, ‘‘She is always very sensitive on such issues and sincerely wants to personally see and feel the pain of people…’’ said Azad.

She will also visit interior villages in Poonch by road and stay at least for six hours there. Later, she will fly to Uri and visit quake affected villages.
