Somdev gets Chennai wild card

New India No 1 Somdev Devvarman, and the second-ranked India Prakash Amritraj have been handed wildcards for the men8217;s singles main draw at the 450,000 ATP Chennai Open.

New India No 1 Somdev Devvarman, and the second-ranked India Prakash Amritraj have been handed wildcards for the men8217;s singles main draw at the 450,000 ATP Chennai Open.

Somdev, ranked 201 in the world, and Prakash, 204th, will be joined by third wild card Czech Republic8217;s Lukas Dlouhy for tournament to be held at the SDAT, Nungambakkam Stadium, from January 5-11, 2009.

Dlouhy, who is making his first appearance at Chennai Open, will also be partnering Leander Paes in the doubles.

8220;I am happy and excited to be making my first appearance at the Chennai Open. I will put my 100 per cent at the tournament and try and win some matches,8221; Devvarman said. Prakash too was elated: 8220;I am delighted to be given an opportunity once again to participate in the Chennai Open. I have always performed well at the tournament, it is more of a home-coming of sorts.8221;
