Silent road to nirvana
July 10 holds great significance for the followers of Meher Baba because it was on this day, 73 years ago, that Baba decided to take to silence. Although the silence was for a year he continued with his silence for the rest of his life, till January 31, 1969. His followers observed complete silence, midnight of July 9 to midnight July 10, followed by a video satsang that commemorated the event. It was a unique satsang where the only discourse was one of complete silence. That in itself is a notable event. So silence is not only golden, but also a path to attain nirvana.
