
SHIMLA, June 11: Higher reaches in Himachal Pradesh experienced snowfall while lower and mid hills had widespread rain since last night, plummeting the temperature considerably in the region.
According to reports received here, tribal areas of Kaza, Thindi, Udaipur, Khoksar and Sumdoh had snowfall making people shiver under intense cold in these areas. It was still snowing when the last reports came in.
The capital town of Shimla and its adjoining areas were lashed by intermittent rain, accompanied by strong wind last night, dipping the temperature. The usual hustle and bustle on the ridge, the centre of tourist activity, was missing in the wake of rain.
Tourist resorts of Wildflower Hall, Kufri, Naldehra and Narkanda in Shimla district and Mandi in Kullu district also experienced moderate to heavy rain. Tourist preferred to stay indoors.
Widespread rain was also reported from districts of Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Hamirpur, Solan and Sirmour. Power supply, water supply and telecom services were badly hit in interiors of the Hamirpur district. Road traffic was also affected on a number of unmetalled roads in the district.
