NEW DELHI, May 14: Prabhjot Singh, son of Skipper group owner Tejwant Singh, was arrested yesterday by Crime Branch sleuths in connection with a case of cheating registered by the Connaught Place police last year.
According to Additional DCP Crime Alok Kumar, he was arrested after the court rejected his bail plea on April 24 this year. He had been on interim bail so far.
The accused was arrested on a complaint registered by Neelam Puri, wife of Ashok Puri, who had allegedly been cheated of Rs 3 lakh on the promise of being allotted a plot in Technology park, Ghaziabad.
A number of cases have been registered against the Skipper group of companies in connection with Technology Park. The company reportedly took money from many people promising them plots of land in the industrial estate.
However, it later came to light that though the company had actually bought land in Ghaziabad for developing a Technology Park, the land was not meant for industrial purpose. Instead, it was meant for agricultural use and requisite clearance had not been obtained for converting the agricultural land.
Tejwant Singh is also involved in a number of such cases. In the Skipper Bhawan and Tower case, the company had reportedly sold the same space a number of times.
