President Pratibha Patil is behaving and sounding more and more like predecessor APJ Abdul Kalam. First, she got children to tie rakhis on her wrist on Rakshabandhan. Then on Teachers Day, she spoke about child labour. And on International Literacy Day, her emphasis was on educating children. Are Patil’s spin managers inspired by Kalam’s ideas? When asked about it, they said Patil had the “girl child” in mind, so had invited girls on Rakshabandhan. Ingenuous, as it may sound, someone in Rashtrapati Bhavan is surely thinking, only not quite differently.
