Meanwhile in Chennai, Principal Sessions Judge P. Murugesan adjourned till February 3 the hearing on an anticipatory bail application from Acharya Jayendra Saraswathi in an assault case.

Public Prosecutor T.V. Ganesh pointed out that the Supreme Court, while granting bail to the seer, had imposed a condition that he should not enter the Kanchi Mutt till the chargesheet was filed. But the Mutt people frequently called on him at Kalavai. The state had preferred a petition in the SC to modify the bail conditions and the orders were expected shortly. Hence, the matter could be adjourned, he pleaded.

The PSJ also adjourned till January 25 further hearing on the bail applications from Kathiravan and Sundaresa Iyer in the Radhakrishnan assault case.
