MUMBAI, December 5: Arjun Mistry will lead Mumbai’s under-16 cricket team against Maharashtra, a Mumbai Cricket Association press release said. Vinayak Mane has been appointed as vice-captain for the match which will be played at the MIG Cricket Ground from December 7-9, 1997.

Team: Arjun Mistry (c), Vinayak Mane (v-c), Rupesh Kumar, Kamran Choudhary, Rahul Yadav, Agam Pandit, Siddharth Bhatkar, Omkar Khanvilkar, Shakti Prasad, Prasad Manjrekar, Aniruddha Dichvalkar, Uday Karkera, Sanket Chitre, Nikhil Palande and Wilkin Mota.

Western India Seniors golf

The Western India Seniors golf championship sponsored by Hong Kong Bank under the aegis of the Western India Golf Association, will be played at the Willingdon Sports Club Course on Dec 6. The event is open to golfers 50 years and over. The Hong Kong Trophy for the best combined nett stableford score of a team of two is the only event for men below 60.

Senior Division chess tournament

Bombay Chess Association will be conducting the Senior Division tournament at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Canteen, Sayani Road, from December 11. It is a 9-round Swiss League tournament with players having to submit an entry fee of Rs 70. Entries are to be submitted to DB Pulekar at the venue from December 6-10 between 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

Rapid chess for medicos

Andheri Medical Sports Club will organise a Rapid Chess Tournament on December 14 at the MIG Club, Bandra (E). The tournament is open only for practising doctors of Mumbai and Thane. The entry fee Rs 100 and the last date to submit it is December 10. More details can be had from Mahendra Shreshtha 6001158/6491539 or Satish Sanil 6210279.
