
Shanker excels
All-round performance by Shanker (2 for 15 and 20) and fine spell by Rakesh (3 for 14) enabled Nirula’s thrash Le Meredien by nine wickets in a low-scoring match of Coca Cola inter-hotel tournament at Jamia Millia College ground.
Rakesh (3 for 14), Shanker (2 for 15) and Gerry (2 for 21) were the successful wicket-takers for the winners while Baljinder (22) was the top scorer for the losers.

Jaswinder shines
An excellent knock of 68 by Jaswinder and an unbeaten 41 by Amit helped Tata Infotech prevail over Cyber by five wickets in the RS Gupta memorial trophy tournament.
Electing to bat, Cyber scored 215 for the loss of eight wickets in 30 overs. Fine knocks by Murthy (70) and Satish (69 not out) went in vain. Murthy was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets giving 31 runs.
In reply, Tata Infotech achieved the target of 216 runs for the loss of five wickets in 27.5 overs. Jaswinder (68), Amit (41 not out) and Vikrant (25) were the batting heroes while Vikrant, Jaswinder and Ishu took two wickets each giving 36, 42 and 48 runs, respectively.

Bal Bharati advance
Fine knocks by Paras Dogra (36) and Akshay Kumar (34) guided Bal Bharati Public School drub Gyan Bharati Public School by 30 runs in the limited overs match to reach the semi-final of the Bro. Dunne inter-school tournament at Mount St Mary’s ground.

Athletics meet
The Frank Anthony Public School (Lajpat Nagar) will organise its 39th annual athletic meet on February 13 at 10.30 am in the school premises. Vice Admiral (retd) H Johson will be the chief guest.

The eighth All India Nivia football (under-19) tournament will be organised from April 20 to May 7 at Ambedkar Stadium.

Railway tennis
The Railway Board Association will organise the 45th All India Inter-Railway Tennis Championship from February 11 to 16 at DTA courts (Africa Avenue). Apart from team championship, the schedule includes open singles and veterans singles and doubles. Seeded players including Nitin Kirtane, Rajesh Vohra, KG Ramesh, R Manoj Kumar, Radhakrishnan, Anand and Balaji are expected to be seen in action.
P Police triumph
Punjab Police won the all-India Akhand Pratap Singh Volleyball tournament for the third consecutive time defeating Andhra Pradesh in three straight games at Faizabad, according to reports reaching here.
The first set of the match was won 15-3 by Andhra Pradesh but some fine coordination and play by the star-studded Punjab Police team won them the next three sets 3-15, 15-12 and 15-9.
After the first game, the Punjab Police spikers came back strong but continued to be troubled by their rivals before they overcame for a fine vicory.
