CHANDIGARH, Aug 18: Government Model Senior Secondary School-37 and Shivalik Public School-41 entered the semifinals of the girls section in the Chandigarh State mini ball badminton championships at the Govt Model School-37, today.

SPS-41 also got a berth in the last four stage in the boys section. GSSS-38 and MDAV-22 have also made it into the semifinal stage.

City athletics team
A thirty-member Chandigarh team including 13 girls will take part in the 11th All India North Zone junior athletic championships to be held at Allahabad from August 20 and 21.

The team was selected on the basis of their performance in the coaching camp which concluded recently.

Girls: Under-20: Pankti Lakra (high jump). Under-18: Pinki Sharma (200m), Manju Sharma (400m), Sapinder Kaur (high jump), Rosy Walia (triple jump). Under-16: Amandeep Kaur (5km walk), Mohinderjit Kaur (100m, long jump), Veena Yadav (400m, 800m), Pawandeep Kaur (400m, Pantathlon), Karamjit Kaur (800m, 3000m), Sakshi Sharma (shot put), Mukesh (shot put, discus throw). Under-14: Amanjot Kaur (pentathlon).

Cricket trials
Trials to select Panchkula XI for the Major Sandeep Sagar Memorial cricket tournament, will be held on August 20, at the Hansraj Public School, Sector 6, at 4 p.m.
