NEW DELHI, November 30: Seven of a family were injured in a clash between two groups in Jaiprakash Nagar, near Bhajanpura. The clash occurred over the issue of removal of construction material, which the attacking group alleged was affecting the pipeline in the neighbourhood.The police has arrested three of the accused - Ram Sharan, Onkar Singh and Suggar Singh - all residents of the area. The incident took place around 10.00 last night when five persons, who were allegedly drunk, woke up the complainant, Hardas Singh, and demanded the removal of some construction material (badarpur) that was lying in their courtyard. The complainant alleged that the men picked up a fight on the pretext that the material ran down the pipeline and caused blockage. When Singh tried to point this out to them, the accused began arguing with him. The complainant alleged that the accused picked up lathis, hawras and iron roads and were joined by 50 people. They started beating Singh and his family, including his wife, Khajani.Singh reportedly fractured his right hand, besides sustaining other bruises. His elder son, Ravindra, was hit with a sharp weapon on the head and cut his small finger. He received stitches for his head injury at the hospital. The other members of the family were also beaten up and almost all have received head injuries. It was only when their neighbours intervened that the family was taken to hospital and the culprits booked by the Bhajanpura police.
