Sen’s research will benefit Christians: VHP

New Delhi, Jan 2: The Vishwa Hindu Prishad (VHP) today said the Nobel Prize was given to Amartya Sen with some “considerations” and his research would benefit Christians.

VHP senior vice president Acharya Giriraj Kishore told reporters here that the Nobel Prizes were given with some “considerations.” “Otherwise why has not Mahatma Gandhi been given Nobel Prize for peace. Why was Mother Teresa given the award not Gandhi or Baba Amte,” he asked.

The Acharya however, said it was a moment of pride and happiness that the award was given to Prof Sen. He reiterated that VHP working president Ashok Singhal was misquoted on the issue.

He said money would now come for promoting literacy ad health programmes in the country but would be spent for something else.
