But in a significant stand, senior Clinton administration officials said it was not a feasible proposition and 8220;in the near term what is achievable is to ban all nuclear testing and ban additional production of unsafeguarded fissile material that can be used to make bombs8221;. The administration8217;s stand, coming amid a firestorm of criticism against India for conducting the tests, revealed that the basic US non-proliferation goals, which accepts India and Pakistan as threshold nuclear powers, had not changed because of the crisis.
