NAGPUR, OCT 18: The four MPs from Shiv Sena in Vidarbha will co-ordinate in a form of committee to take up important issues of the region with the central government and get them solved on priority.
The initiative has been taken by Subodh Mohite, newly elected Sena MP from Ramtek. Speaking to mediapersons here at a Meet-the-press8217; programme organised by Nagpur Union of Working Journalists NUWJ, Mohite said that he has already discussed the matter with three other colleagues elected from the region, Anandrao Adsul from Buldana, Anant Gude from Amravati and Bhavana Gawli from Washim.
Mohite said that the newly elected MPs will hold periodic discussions on the common issues of the region and decide upon the action to be taken to solve them. The issues that would be taken up first by this committee include setting up of international airport in the city and the issue of Zudpi-Jungle in the region, Mohite divulged.
Answering a query, Mohite said that although he had not undertaken any discussions with theBJP MPs from the region in this regard, he was confident that they would also join the committee for benefit of common people.
Mohite, a first-time MP, who has stormed the well-known Congress bastion at Ramtek, is ready with a developmental agenda for Ramtek in particular and the region on a whole, even before taking the oath of office. He said that among his priorities is to expedite the developmental works at Ramtek. Giving the definition of developmental work, he said that it is the work which is completed within a specific time-frame and is of benefit to common citizens.
He mentioned that he would ensure effective utilisation of the MP funds by clubbing projects together and minimising overlapping of funds for the same projects at different levels. Saying that roping in private industries for the region is not an easy task, the Sena district chief said that he would instead make efforts to rope in more PSUs. Giving example, he said that coal washeries set up in the region as subsidiaries of WesternCoalfields Ltd, could provide employment to about 50,000 people.
He also said that he would set up a special committee for the project-affected people, which will make efforts to provide compensation within three months. He said that the committees are different levels could be headed by administrative authorities such as district collector and tehsildar and the elected representatives could be part of it.
He mentioned that as promised during election campaign, he has already taken up the issue of project-affected persons related to the Narkhed-Amravati Railway line.
