Chandigarh Dynamos scored a 2-1 victory over Sher-e-Jalandhar in the 13th match of the Premier Hockey League played at Hockey Stadium, Sector-42, here today.
After an early goal by Sher-e-Jalandhar, Chandigarh Dynamos were brought back into the game by drag-flick expert Sandeep Singh, who scored a brace to hand Dynamos their third win of the championship.
Sher-e-Jalandhar struck in the seventh minute of the game when Gurvinder Singh Chandi drove in and sent the ball across for a perfect finish by Jarnail Singh.
Dynamos earned their first of the nine penalty corners in the 32nd minute, but Sandeep Singh8217;s shot hit the top of the goal post before Deepak Thakur missed an easy chance in the opening minute of the third quarter.
Sandeep Singh8217;s fourth drag-flick off a penalty corner in the 51st minute of the game again hit the top of the goal post. But it all changed when a sharp shot by Singh off a penalty corner in the next minute brought Dynamos on par with Sher-e-Jalandhar.
However, the awarding of a penalty corner by the umpire elicited a volley of protests from Sher-e-Jalandhar players.
In the later part of the last quarter, Sandeep Singh slithered in an astonishing low drag-flick from Dynamos8217; ninth penalty corner in the 67th minute to seal the deal.
