French striker Louis Saha completed his move from Fulham to Manchester United on Friday after signing a five-and-a-half year contract with the English champions.

The 25-year-old cost them 11.5 million pounds 21.18 million, United said in a statement to the London stock exchange. The transfer took place after weeks of speculation on the fate of the prolific striker.

Saha is ineligible for United8217;s FA Cup fourth round match against Northampton Town on Sunday because he had already participated in the tournament as a Fulham player, but may make his debut in the important Premier League game against Southampton the following Saturday.

Saha will be handed the United number nine shirt last worn by Andy Cole before his move to Blackburn Rovers. Reuters
