HAMIRPUR, Sept 22: The Himachal Pradesh government has allocated Rs 6.74 crore for the construction of a zonal hospital at Hamirpur, Chief Minister P. K. Dhumal said while addressing a rural gathering at Uhal village, in Bahnsan Assembly constituency, today.He said that another zonal hospital would be opened at Nahan, in Sirmaur district.Dhumal claimed that the state government was committed to uniform and balanced development of the state and the decision to set up a zonal hospital at Nahan was a step towards this direction.The previous Congress government in the state had neglected Hamirpur district with regards to tourism and the government has now decided to set up a tourists complex in Hamirpur zone. The tourist complex would came up at the cost of Rs 65 lakh, the Chief Minster said.Dhumal informed that the government has sanctioned Rs 6.30 crore for the widening of Sujanpur-Sandhol, Tauni Devi-Jangel Bairi road.Referring to the various development schemes launched in Uhal panchyat, he said Rs 30 lakh has been approved and sanctioned for the panchayat.A 33-KV substation would be set up in Kakkan village at a cost of Rs 2 crore to improve power supply in the area.He also sanctioned Rs 2 lakh for the construction of four rooms at senior secondary school, Uhal, and Rs 10,000 to school children for promotion of cultural activities.State Education Minister Ishwar Dass Dhiman urged Dhumal to open a division of irrigation and public health at Awahdevi to augment the supply of drinking water for the people of the area.He urged the farmers to grow mango and other fruits in Hamirpur district, training and inputs for which would be given by the Department of Horticulture.Others who spoke on the occasion included Narvada Thakur, chairman, Zila Parishad and ex-MLAs Karam Singh Thakur and Lashkari Ram.Earlier, the Chief Minister laid that foundation stone of a Rs 12-lakh building of DAV High School at Tauni Devi. Out of Rs 12 lakh, Rs 3 lakh has been contributed by the people of area and the remaining amount of Rs 9 lakh has been given by the district administration Meanwhile, the CM laid the foundation stone of the Rs 16.38-crore 220 KV substation of Mattan Sidh, about 6 km from here.Addressing a rural gathering on the occasion, Dhumal said that the substation would be completed within 2 years and mitigate the problem of power shortage in the northern part of the state.He informed that the office of the Chief Engineer, (transmission of HPSEB) Shimla, would be shifted to Hamirpur soon.Dhumal also lauded the sole of the engineers of state electricity board for undertaking the execution of various power projects with dedication and zeal.
