MUMBAI, DECEMBER 30: Rizvi Springfield are the new Harris Shield cricket champions. They defeated IES V N Sule Guruji by 69 runs on the last day of the four-day final of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-school tournament at Elf Vengsarkar ground, Oval, on Thursday.

This was Rizvi’s maiden title in six years. The hero of their victory was left-arm spinner Santosh Agrahari who had a match haul of 10-83 in 55.4 overs. He was declared man of the final.

IES resumed at 11 for two, requiring another 233 runs for a win. Their third-wicket pair of Swapnoj Thakur and captain Vineet Indulkar added 111 before Thakur was run out (53: 117b, 7×4). After one more run, Indulkar was stumped off left-arm spinner Agrahari for 50 (136b, 5×4). Thereafter IES lost the way and bowled out for 174.

Indulkar was declared best batsman of final while leg-spinner Rohan Amlad was best bowler.

Mumbai Port Trust defeated Central Bank by one wicket to head the table in Group B with 19 points and pipped Bank of India by one point. In Group C, Varun Shipping topped with 15 points.
