Reptiles stolen from Steve Irwin wildlife park

More than 50 reptiles, including a crocodile, were stolen from an Australian animal education centre established to continue the work of wildlife crusader Steve Irwin. The haul from the Wildlife Wonderland near Melbourne, included a 2 feet freshwater crocodile, two pythons and three bearded dragons, all requiring an owner’s licence, the centre’s owner said. Also reported stolen were the centre’s entire stock of 47 blue-tongue lizards. The centre’s proprietor Darren Tilley said the animals were discovered missing on Sunday morning, suggesting a late-night or early morning break in.

Sydney Bridge marks 75th birthday

Sydney: Downtown traffic in Australia’s largest city comes to a near-standstill while an estimated 200,000 people marched across the landmark Sydney Harbour Bridge to celebrate 75 years since its completion. The 503-meter steel and sandstone structure is known to many Australians as “the coat hanger” because of its elongated arch shape.
