KHARAR, June 17: The Punjab State Election Commission has directed to issue a certified copy of the rejection order of nomination papers to the candidates whose papers were rejected during the panchayat poll process in the state, indicating the grounds of rejection.
Disclosing this here today, Avtar Chand Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrates -cum-Electoral Registration Officer told ENS that a communication to this effect had been issued to all the additional deputy commissioners (development)-cum-district electoral officers, Sub Divisional Magistrates and BDPOs in the state.
He said that it has been mentioned in the communication that if any candidate applied in writing for a certified copy of the rejection orders the same may be issued on the same day indicating the grounds of rejection.
A large number of villagers, who had filed their nominations for the ensuing panchayat polls, had alleged that the BDPOs of their respective blocks had been biased while accepting and rejecting the nomination papers.
