Amritsar: Narinderjit Singh has taken over as the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar in place of Amarjit Singh, who has been posted as the special secretary, animal husbandry, fisheries and dairy development. Narinderjit Singh was earlier the director, cultural affairs, archaeology and museums.

Chandigarh: Roshan Sunkaria, IAS, today took over the charge of Deputy Commissioner of Nawanshahr district in place of B. R. Banga, IAS, who has been transferred as additional secretary, Irrigation and Power, Punjab, an official release said.

Camps
Mansa: Nearly 150 patients were examined at a free check-up camp organised by IFFCO at the primary health centre in Joga, near here, last week. Medical Officer Dr Jagtar Singh inaugurated the camp. Sukhpal Singh Sidhu, IFFCO field officer, listed various achievements and activities of IFFCO.

Ambala: In an unexpected response, 207 persons including 85 children turned up for getting the Hepatitis B Vaccination at the one-day camp organised by the Department of Social Service and Survey at the Krishna Diagnostic and EEG Centre, Ambala Cantonment, yesterday. Programme Coordinator Rishi Mahajan said that more camps were planned for all the districts in Haryana in the near future. He informed that the next camp would be held on August 9. Mahajan said that Shri Geeta Ashram International Incorporation, USA would hold awareness drives at more frequent intervals and with more budget.

Result
Patiala: The result of BA (III) and B.Sc (II) examinations conducted by the Punjabi University, Patiala, in April and May 1998, shall be declared on July 15. The result of MA Punjabi Part-II and MA Social Work Part-I and II would be declared tomorrow, according to a press release issued by the university here today.

Workshop
Shimla: Noted orthopaedic surgeons and specialists, who assembled at a workshop yesterday shared views on latest techniques in their field. Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda presided over the workshop. He also evinced keen interest in the operations conducted through the Illizarov Fixator Technique. Later, addressing doctors at the workshop, Nadda urged them to make IGMC, a premier institution of the country.

Plea
Bathinda: The Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative has written to Railway authorities demanding full compensation against the damage to their 10,000 bags containing DAP fertilizers in the carriage. The stock was damaged was due to the cyclone which hit Gujarat recently. IFFCO authorities have declined to offload the consignment after assessing the damage. According to Deputy DM, IFFCO, Pritpal Singh, the Rs 50-lakh consignment has been damaged to such an extent that it was not fit for reprocessing. The Railway authorities have yet to take a decision on the matter.

Tele-film
Nahan: Producer-director N. K. Mathur will be make making a tele-film on Renuka lake and Lord Parshuram. He will also make “India 365 days”, about tourism spots and other available facilities. The Haripurdhar-Nohradhar area of Sirmaur district will also be covered in this documentary film, whose 26 episodes have already been approved by Doordarshan.
