AHMEDABAD, Nov 7: Octroi department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation AMC collected a record breaking income of Rs 1.87 crore in one day as octroi on Monday.
This was a shot in the arm for the Corporation which was facing a severe setback in the octroi collection because of the transporters8217; strike in the fourth week of October. Octroi committee chairman and his deputy claimed that the AMC8217;s income from octroi was Rs 25.43 crore in October this year which was Rs 5.81 crore more than the Rs 19.53 crore recorded in October 1998.
Moreover, the octroi income during April to October this year stood at Rs 165.74 crore.
