RCF and Bombay Republicans moved into the semi-finals of the Bandra Gymkhana Open Rink Hockey tournament. RCF defeated Fr. Agnel Gymkhana 8-4 while Republicans won 4-2 over Rajput XI.

St. Peter’s triumph
St. Peter’s, Mazgaon won the ICSE Schools Cricket final at the Parsee Cyclists ground, Azad Maidan beating Scholar in the final. Amit Kothari of the winners was declared man of the match, Malav Rajda the best batsman and Vijay Shah the best bowler.
Scholar 162-8 in 40 overs (Malav Rajda 56, Rahul Pandey 45, Vishrut 29; Amit Kothari 5-26, Ejaz Dalvi 2-40) lost to St. Peter’s, Mazgaon 163-7in 33.3 overs (Amit Kothari 36, Ejaz Dalvi 35 n.o., Jemin Mistry 23 n.o.; Vijay Shah 5-40).
Balaji sole leader
G Balaji defeated the unbeaten Ganesh Bhilare to take sole lead after seven rounds in the Pre-Rating Chess Tournament at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Canteen. Balaji has 6.5 points with Bhilare, Amol Wagle and Vaibhav Saxena in the second spot with 6 points. DB Pulekar and VN Sonawane are in the third spot with 5.5 points.
Sitwala dazzles
Dhruv Sitwala (35) upset holder Siddarth Parekh (40) 105-64, 107-70 in the third-round of the Sushil R Ruia Open Handicap snooker tournament, sponsored by Selvel and Consultant, at the Matharpacady Club, Mazgaon, today.

Easy for MGMO B

Cricket tourney
The Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial cricket tournament for the Mumbai Cricket Association’s summer vacation camps for the under-16 will start from May 8 at Matunga.
There are 16 teams divided into four groups and will play on a league-cum-knockout basis. This New Hind-conducted, Maharaja Fatesinghrao Gaekwad Sports Foundation-sponsored tourney will be a one-day affair of 45 overs per side. The final will be played on May 30.
Police Hockey
The third Police Cup Hockey tournament, conducted by BHA, will be held at Naigaum Police HQ ground from May 12. Entries should be submitted on or before May 8. Entry fee is Rs 300 for company side and Rs 150 for clubs.
The BHA will be organising five-a-side rink hockey tournament at their tennis court from May 12. More details can be had from the BHA.
National Teamracing
The Yachting Association of India’s National team racing championships will be held off the Pilot Bunder from May 8 to 12. Thirteen teams are participating with prominent sailors like Homi Motivala, Farokh Tarapore, Pushpendra Garg, Ashim Mongia, R Mahesh participating.
