Rash driving convict out on probation

CHANDIGARH, Feb 17: UT Judicial Magistrate First Class Paramvir Nijjar today convicted a city resident for rash and negligent driving and later released him on probation of one year after he furnished a probationary bond of Rs 7,000.

Sita Ram, a resident of Sector 29, was earlier booked under Sections 279, 337 and 338 IPC on allegations that on Feb 12, 1997, he was driving an Ambassador car in the area of Govt Model School, Sector 29, in a rash and negligent manner so as to endanger human life and public safety. In the process he caused grievous hurt to one Devinder Singh.

After hearing the arguments, the Magistrate convicted the accused under Sections 279 and 338 IPC, and released him on furnishing a probationary bond of Rs 7,000 with a surety of the like amount.
